The Moonlodge
The Moonlodge is a sacred place of ceremony for many indegenous women. I don't claim to know exactly how it came to be called a Moonlodge all I can offer is a brief description based on my own research about it. I am hoping that other women will come forward with much more knowledge who can enlighten us about the Moonlodges.
The Moonlodge goes by different names in different societies but the purpose it serves has been similiar in my research. It was a place women went to while on their menses (which usually coincided with the phases of the moon). Women took breaks from their daily duties during this time and rested. They honored themselves and their bodies by having this ritual and the men within their society honored this time as well. Women were known to have great visions and be very insightful during this time.
I wanted to create a modern day Moonlodge because I feel in our society there is such a need for it. If men can utilize some of the tools that will be posted - I welcome them into the Moonlodge and look forward to their insight as well.
A modern Moonlodge to me is a place of insight, wisdom, creativity and tools for further development into a person's own sacred journey. There is no need to be on your menses to experience the Moonlodge just the will to honor yourself.
Welcome to The Moonlodge.
